Last weekend was the last before the Breeders’ Cup, with all eyes now squarely on the big event this weekend. It still gave us some memorable performances, though, so lets take a look at some of the action with our latest Three Stars:
1. Maximum Security
The big horse was back last Saturday with an easy win in the Bold Ruler Handicap (G3) at Belmont Park. He cruised home in wire to wire fashion, winning by 1 3/4-lengths. This victory has him in a perfect spot to go tackle a race like the Clark Handicap (G1) next at Churchill Downs.
2. Tom’s d’Etat
This horse is capable of running huge races, which is exactly what he did last Saturday when he won the Fayette Stakes (G2) at Keeneland. He pressed the pace early, before taking control up the backside, cruising home to a 4 1/4-lengths. The Clark Handicap (G1) at Churchill Downs could be next for him.
3. Seismic Wave
After running in a lot of big races this year on the NYRA circuit, Seismic Wave found the winners circle again last Saturday in the English Channel Stakes. Like always, he dropped to the back of the pack, before making a big run down the lane to win by a half-length. This was one of the strongest performances of his career.
