News Racing Dudes Three Stars of the Week: Chad Brown’s World August 12, 2019 News Racing Dudes Three Stars of the Week: Chad Brown’s World August 12, 2019 By: Aaron Halterman twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article If you like turf racing, then last Saturday had to be one of your favorite days of the season. Arlington Park gave us another outstanding Arlington Million Day, while the Fourstardave Handicap (G1) was contested at Saratoga. In the end, we saw some of the best performances of the year. Let’s take a look at the top 3 horses from that major day of racing: 1. Bricks and Mortar The #1 ranked horse in the country lived up to the billing last Saturday, taking home the Arlington Million Stakes (G1), giving him six victories in a row. Like usual, Bricks and Mortar dropped towards the back of the pack, with jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. saving ground along the inside. Turning for home Ortiz hugged the rail, before tipping him out for clear running in the stretch. From there, it was lights out for the competition, as the Chad Brown trained monster kicked clear with a decisive three-quarter length triumph. He exits this race as the clear favorite for Horse of the Year honors, with the Breeders’ Cup now becoming the next target. 2. Sistercharlie It was Chad Brown’s day to dominate at Arlington Park. He was able to win all four of the graded stakes races on the card, starting with the Beverly D Stakes (G1) with Sistercharlie. The ultra-consistent mare just continues to win races, looking better as ever this season. Like normal, she dropped towards the back of the field, while her rabbit, Thais, set the early pace. Turning for home Thais had opened up a big lead; however, the freight train was starting to rev up her engine. In a few seconds the champion Sistercharlie had took the lead with ease. From there, she flew home in course record time, winning the race by a widening three lengths. This victory sets her up well for the Breeders’ Cup, where she will look to win the Filly and Mare Turf for the second straight season. 3. Got Stormy How’s that for girl power!? There’s in nothing like winning a stakes race at Saratoga; however, what’s even better is winning two in the span of seven days! That is exactly what Got Stormy was able to accomplish on Saturday when she flew home late to win the Fourstardave Handicap (G1) in track record time. The pace-setting Gidu set very fast fractions early, which set the race up perfectly for those coming from the back. Got Stormy sat in the perfect stalking position, which allowed her to get the jump on several of her main rivals that were several lengths behind her turning for home. The filly was loaded in the stretch, storming home for a 2 1/2 length victory. This type of performance makes her a major contender for the Breeders’ Cup Mile this fall at Santa Anita.
