Pink Lloyd Rolls in Kenora

TORONTO, ON – In what is becoming as commonplace as the sun rising each morning, Entourage Stable’s Pink Lloyd won his third straight edition of the $100,000 OLG Kenora Stakes on Wednesday at Woodbine.

Breaking from post 3 under regular rider Eurico Rosa Da Silva as the 1/9 prohibitive favorite, Pink Lloyd was keen to run early but was kept to a hold initially. After settling, he raced within a length of the leader and his Robert Tiller stablemate Circle of Friends.

Sandwiched between Circle of Friends and Hold’emforransom as he entered the far turn, Pink Lloyd confidently waited until he straightened for home before kicking away. Suddenly finding a sharp gear inside the 3/16 pole, Pink Lloyd drew off much the best to win by 5 1/4 lengths. He crossed in a final time of 1:08.28 for the 6-furlong sprint over the fast synthetic surface.

Circle of Friends stayed on to finish second to make the Tiller exacta pay $4.70 for $1. Magical Man headed Hold’emforransom for third, while Dixie’s Gamble and Lokinforpursemonee never threatened before completing the order of finish.

Pink Lloyd’s win continued his current string of victories over the local oval to five, all against stakes company. The 7-year-old gelded son of Old Forester sports a career mark of 26-21-1-1 with $1,231,728 earned.

“That is his 18th stakes win, his 21st win of his career, he’s better than ever,” Tiller said. “He’s won multiple stakes multiple times. If this is not the greatest sprinter there ever was in Canada and if this is not the next Horse of the Year twice in the last three years… I believe he will be. Watch out.”

Pink Lloyd returned $2.30 to win. There was no place or show betting.
