Papa Dudes Free Picks For Oaklawn 4/18/21

It’s the Sunday after a gigantic and exciting Saturday at Oaklawn Park and I must admit it’s a bit of a letdown. But, the racing doesn’t stop and it’s time to find some winners on today’s card.

Race 2: Maiden Claiming

I’ll kick it off today with a small .50 cent pick 3 to get things started. It’ll be a small $9 wager centered mostly around a couple of horses in race 4 that I will talk abut next.

The Bet: .50-cent pick-3: 5,6,7 / 1,2,5 / 5,6

Race 4: Starter Allowance

This shapes up as 2-horse race between #5 Fra Mauro and #6 Paynter Party. There isn’t much to choose from after those two. Both have great trainers and both are fully capable of winning this one. I’m going to pick the 6 hoping for a little higher odds on that one than the 5.

The Bet: $10 to win on #6

Race 5: Starter Allowance

My pick is the #4 Honoring Major from the Diodoro barn. He ran a good second in his only start and his handlers have kept him at this level. This one makes sense. I’m also going to start a pick 3 here as well, another cheap ticket, but it could still pay decent.

The Bet: $10 Across the Board on #4

The Bet: .50-cent pick-3: 4,6, / 2,3,12 / 1,5

Race 8: Allowance

I like 2 horses in this race. The #1 Zanshoes has been running well this entire meet and has hit the board 3 out of 5 races. The #6 Too Pretty is coming off a good allowance victory against several of the same horses in this one.

Papa Dudes Sports Plays of the Day

We’ve been on a good streak with the NHL lately so there is no reason to change course. I follow the NHL very closely, even when my team (The Blues) keep losing! Let’s take a look at today’s lineup:

Game 1: New York Rangers over New Jersey

The Rangers are in the playoff hunt and New Jersey is just skating around.

Game 2: Pittsburgh over Buffalo

Pretty much the same story here as in the first game. The Penguins fighting for the top spot in their division. Buffalo looking forward to the Bills and the NFL season.

Game 3: Philadelphia over NY Islanders

The Flyers desperately need this one and the Islanders are a poor road team.

Game 4: Toronto over Vancouver

The Leafs are playing lights out and lead all Canada teams. The Canucks have been out with Covid forever and have forgot each other’s names by now.

Game 5: Vegas over Anaheim

Can anyone stop the Vegas train? It won’t be the Ducks.

Game 6: Boston over Washington

This will be a war between these two rivals. The Capitals have been just average going 5-5 in their last 10. The Bruins have been hot as of late and they are at home although that doesn’t matter much in the Covid era.
