Race 7 on the Saturday card saw Newstome explode off of the far turn and clear off to win the Woodstock by 5 1/2 lengths. Untitled went off as the 1/2 favorite, but he could not withstand the strong stretch run that the Mike Trombetta-trained winner unleashed.

Luis Contreras rode the Pennsylvania-bred Goldencents colt home at nearly 6/1 odds in the 6-furlong synthetic sprint. Untitled was 3 1/4 lengths ahead of Lookinatamiracle, while the pace-setting Aye Aye SirStriking Moon, and Stormy Soul completed the order of finish.

Newstome won his third career stakes and improved his overall record to 8-4-0-1 with $223,071 earned. The Trombettas paid $32,000 for him as an unraced juvenile.

Newstome returned $13.90 to win, $3.60 to place, and $2.80 to show. Untitled brought back $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show, while Lookinatamiracle paid $2.80 to show.

One race later on the card, Owlette made every pole a winning one en route to defeating eight other fillies in the Star Shoot. The Wesley Ward trainee was the race’s 2/1 favorite under Jerome Lermyte and never faced much pace pressure throughout the 6-furlong synthetic sprint.

Curlin’s Voyage and Coach Lori rallied to hit the board ahead of Two Sixty and New York Groove. Behind them came Tara DawnIma BeastCool Shadows, and Take Charge Eh to complete the order of finish.

Owlette’s win was her third at the stakes level, as the daughter of Frac Daddy defeated fellow Ontario-breds in last fall’s Shady Well and Victoria Queen over the same course. Her overall record stands at 6-4-2-0 with $227,162 earned.

Owlette returned $6.50 to win, $4 to place, and $2.80 to show. Curlin’s Voyage brought back $5.50 to place and $3.70 to show, while Coach Lori paid $4.80 to show.
