DEL MAR, CA – A front-running effort gave Neptune’s Storm his fifth career stakes score in Sunday’s $80,000 Wickerr Stakes going 1 mile over the Del Mar turf.

The 6/5 favorite under Flavien Prat, Neptune’s Storm set a comfortable early pace down the backstretch but began edging away in the far turn and straightened for home with a growing lead.

The Richard Baltas trainee pulled away for a 1 3/4-length score, stopping the clock at 1:35.56.

The remainder of the eight-horse field passed the wire in a tightly-knight bunch, ultimately coming across as Majestic Eagle, Tiz Plus, Border Town, Bob and Jackie, Homer Screen, Next Shares, and Count of Amazonia.

Neptune’s Storm, a 5-year-old Stormy Atlantic gelding, improved his record to 21-7-4-6 with $918,485 earned for co-owners CYBT, Saul Gevertz, Lynn Gitomer, Mike Goetz, Michael Nentwig, and Daniel Weiner.

Neptune’s Storm returned $4.60 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.60 to show. Majestic Eagle brought back $7.80 to place and $4.80 to show. Tiz Plus paid $5.80 to show.
