Coach Rocks broke well and went straight to the front to be joined by Cosmic burst in second while the post-time favorite Midnight Bisou sat just off the pace in third. Breaking Bread was close by in fourth and Sun Studio sat back a few lengths as they made their way around the track setting easy fractions of :24.79 and :49.06. Midnight Bisou continued to sit patiently off of the leader as they made their way into the stretch and took her time in finding an opening along the rail. As soon as she saw the gap, she shot through it and straight to the finish, blowing past the leader Coach rocks and finishing in first a comfortable length ahead of Coach Rocks. Cosmic Burst finished third and Breaking Bread was fourth.

“She was a little aggressive early on and that’s probably because of the slow pace,” said trainer Mike Smith. “I thought about pulling out from in behind early but I didn’t want her to take off early. There was still plenty of race to go so I decided to wait. When I saw my opening (along the rail) she really responded.”

“She’s just a true blessing and I just so much appreciate the team and how they feel about her, and how Mike Smith handles her, and the confidence that everybody is showing in her. She is a very special filly,” said winning trainer Steve Asmussen. “Her race today was beautiful. The hard part was us showing patience. We were very anxious. She’s a very special filly and you want everything to go well. But she was great in the post parade, beautiful in the gate, and she traveled very well under Mike the whole way and finished very well. Pure professionals overcome obstacles. She’s better equipped to handle them than the people.”

Midnight Bisou has been nothing short of amazing in her sixteen career races, picking up ten wins and never finishing worse than third. She is trained by Steve Asmussen and owned by Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stable, and Allen Racing,

Midnight Bisou returned $2.10 to win, $2.10 to place, and $2.10 to show. Coach Rocks brought back $2.80 to place and $2.10 to show, while Cosmic Burst paid $2.80 to show.
