Made You Look Skims Rail to Win G2 With Anticipation

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saving every inch of ground every step of the way, Made You Look rallied from just off the pace to win Wednesday’s Grade 2, $200,000 With Anticipation for 2-year-old turf runners at Saratoga Race Course.

Targeting the 1 1/16-mile With Anticipation ever since a six-furlong maiden victory at Belmont Park in June, Made You Look settled along the rail nicely through the early going as 48-1 longshot Gemologister set the pace under pressure from Monsoon K S A and Keep Quiet.

Turning for home, Made You Look slipped inside the leaders under derring-do handling from three-time Eclipse Award winner Javier Castellano, and drove clear to win by two lengths over Keep Quiet, as Bird’s Eye View rallied late for third.

“I had a beautiful trip,” said Castellano. “The way he followed in the race, you don’t see too many 2-year-olds racing like that. The pace was slow and he was right behind the horse (in front). It set up beautiful. Turning for home, I didn’t have too much room and I had to squeeze a little bit inside the rail. It was unbelievable, he went right through and took off. He finished really well.”

A $350,000 colt by More Than Ready, Made You Look ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.12 seconds over a firm inner turf course. He paid $5.30 to win as the slight favorite over Keep Quiet, and earned $120,000 for Let’s Go Stable and Three Chimneys Farm.

Made You Look was the fifth With Anticipation winner since 2008 for Todd Pletcher, who developed More Than Ready into a multiple graded stakes winner, including the Grade 1 King’s Bishop, early in his career.

“We were getting a beautiful trip, it was just a matter of whether he was able to find a spot to go through,” said Pletcher. “I thought for a young horse there was a little opening and to shoot through there was pretty brave on his part. He’s been training really well, we were looking forward to a good effort and he got a good trip, and he delivered. He’s got a fantastic pedigree, top and bottom side. It’s a lot of fun for us to have a son of More Than Ready – it was 1999 when he won the Sanford. He’s just been so good to our stable, not only him but all of his offspring.”

Pletcher added that Made You Look could start next in the Pilgrim on October 1 at Belmont Park, or train up to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.

The order of finish was completed by Monsoon K S A, My Bo Chop, Tell the Truth, Ardmore Bay and Gemologister.
