Exotic Plays

#1 International Star (NY) – This is certainly the most experienced runner in the field, and his company line is extremely strong.  Still not sure this one truly likes the dirt, but he’s ran well enough over it to give him another chance.  Don’t think he can win, but I do think he is a great horse to play underneath.

#6 Savoy Stomp (KY) – Always very dangerous to leave out a Pletcher horse, and that is the only reason this horse lands in the “Exotic Plays” instead of the “throw outs.”  The horse scored nicely on debut, but was beaten badly in a stakes next time out, and then lost by almost eight lengths in an allowance at Gulfstream last time.  The change of track might help, and he also lures in jockey Mike Smith…but is he good enough?

#10 Another Lemon Drop (KY) – This one is tough to determine so we’ll look to go to school on him in this race.  He broke his maiden on the grass, lost by eight lengths in his only fast dirt track start, then dominated an allowance field by five on a sloppy track.  Is he more of a turf horse who just happened to like a sloppy track or can he run on a fast track as well?  Tough to tell, but there is enough talent there to respect.
