Breaking easily from post 2 under Tyler Gaffalione, Jordan’s Henny sat off early and along the inside while Apologynotaccepted and Spice Lady took turns leading through splits of :22.63 and :45.72. Gradually moving out through the far turn, Jordan’s Henny began splitting foes down the stretch and engaged with Rich Mommy and the favored Curlin’s Approval. Jordan’s Henny was able to get a step ahead of her foes in the final jumps to win by 3/4 of a length in a final time of 1:23.68 for the 7-furlong main track event.

“The filly broke well today,” Gaffalione said. “She put herself in a real nice spot and was relaxed back there. When I picked her up at the 3/8 pole, she started giving me more down the lane, had a big stride, and was all horse today.”

Curlin’s Approval was up for second by 3/4 of a length past Rich Mommy. Moonlit Promise, the leader at the top of the stretch, faded late to finish fourth, with Bodacious Babe in fifth. Marley’s Freedom necked out sixth over Spice Lady, while Nonna Mela, Apologynotaccepted, MagalieShar Ran, and Money Or Love completed the order of finish.

Jordan’s Henny is a 4-year-old daughter out of Henny Hughes. Trained by Mike Tomlinson, the win improved her record to 15-3-3-5 with career earnings of $262,596.

“She is quite a prize,” Tomlinson said. “She’s come off of a layoff, she’s had a hard campaign last year. We freshened her and the owners let us do what we needed to do. Everyone discounted her, but this filly has a lot of class and we’re just thrilled to death with the outcome of today. Tyler and I discussed the amount of speed in the race and he did such a wonderful job and we’re just tickled to death for everyone involved.”

Jordan’s Henny returned $120 to win, $24 to place, and $10.80 to show. Curlin’s Approval brought back $4 to place and $3 to show, while Rich Mommy paid $7.20 to show.
