Important 3 Trends You Must Know For Betting The 2023 Breeders’ Cup

The 2023 Breeders’ Cup is upon us! And with seemingly endless amounts of information available, the Dudes are here to help you weed through the stats, and some of the numbers are startling.

Gain a betting edge to help you cash your picks for each of the 14 World Championship races with our 2023 Breeders’ Cup Betting Bible + 14 Trends to the 2023 Breeders’ Cup wagering guide!

Here’s a sneak peak at our 3 favorite trends heading into the Breeders’ Cup:

1. FanDuel Juvenile

The only 2 post-time favorites to win the FanDuel Juvenile in the past 10 years were trained by Bob Baffert (Corniche and Game Winner). Toss out Storm the Court (who won at 45-1 in 2019) and the average winning odds over the past 10 years have been at a mild 6-1. Furthermore, 6 of the last 7 Juvenile winners entered the following year’s Kentucky Derby.

Takeaway: Baffert will likely have the post-time favorite again this year. Either single here and move on, or look elsewhere for the horse who you project has the most upside moving forward into 2024.

2. Longines Turf

They might as well start running this race overseas because the Longines Turf has turned into a playground for European-based horses. The Euros have won this bad boy 12 of the past 15 runnings (80%). However, 2 problems: who is the international horse to play, and how do they beat the American beast Up to the Mark?

Takeaway: Plot twist. Out of the last 15 runnings, only 1 American-based horse was pounded as the favorite (Bricks and Mortar – 2019). If Up to the Mark is pounded, then it might indicate that the Euros have no advantage this year. Let the odds guide you.

3. Qatar Racing Sprint

This trend plays on repeat in our head, year after year. Only 2 horses in the last 25 years (Reraise in 1998 and Big Drama in 2010) have won the Sprint going gate to wire. You just cannot do it. And we’ve seen some incredibly fast horses try (we’re looking at you, Jackie’s Warrior).

Takeaway: Bob Baffert’s Speed Boat Beach has it cooked into his name, and as hard as it is to win a Breeders’ Cup race in back-to-back years, we have seen it multiple times in this race. Elite Power looks like a prime candidate to repeat.
