OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Sam Sherman and John Middleton’s Huntsinger flew past his rivals in the stretch to win Sunday’s $60,000 Kip Deville Stakes at Remington Park.
Huntsinger was 9/1 under jockey Lane Luzzi, who was also aboard for the Texas-bred’s maiden-breaking debut on August 3. This marked the first Kip DeVille victory for all connections, including trainer Danny Pish.
Vulcan finished second after closely tracking the early leader and failing to capitalize in the stretch. Hulen rallied for third over the pacesetting Red N Wild.
The 3/5 favorite Game Day Play, Eurochippygolfer, and the winner’s stablemate Okie Strong completed the order of finish.
Huntsinger returned $21.40 to win, $6.40 to place, and $4.20 to show. Vulcan brought back $5 to place and $3.40 to show, while Hulen paid $3.40 to show.
