The race at 1 mile was for Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds. ( Content Continues Below Ad ) The gelded son of Cyber Secret, out of the Cactus Ridge mare Yucca, also won the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup on October 16 here. This would have been his fourth win in a row at Remington this meet, except for losing by a neck last time out to Catdaddy on November 24 in an allowance-optional $25,000 claiming race. Jockey Sophie Doyle has been aboard Dont Tell Noobody for all-time winningest owner in Remington Park history, Danny Caldwell of Poteau, Oklahoma, in all 6 starts this meet. Federico Villafranco is the trainer. That owner-trainer combination also won this race in 2013 with Big Sugarush. This is the first win in the Jim Thorpe for Doyle. Doyle utilized a favorite move with Dont Tell Noobody, dropping back to next-to-last down the backstretch, then pouncing down the lane to win. Dont Tell Noobody actually fell back to dead last after 3/4 of a mile. By the time they reached the turn for home, he had rallied extremely wide around the field to gain second, only a 1/2-length back of Mesa Moon. That’s when Doyle powered to the front with Dont Tell Noobody, finishing 3/4 of a length in front of a closing Great Faces in the 1-mile race over a fast track. Southgate set the early pace before fading. He hit the opening 1/4-mile in :24.78 and the 1/2-mile in :48.90. Okie Standard actually moved briefly to the lead and reached 3/4 of a mile in 1:13.48. The 7-furlong time was 1:26.47 and the final time for the mile was 1:39.50. The winner was sent off at 3/2 odds, but was not the wagering favorite. That status went to Mesa Moon (6/5), who ran third, another 4 lengths behind the runner-up. The remaining order of finish was Willy Special Cats (4th), Okie Standard (5th) Fly To The Bank (6th) and Southgate last. Dont Tell Noobody paid $5 to win, $3 to place, and $2.10 to show. He earned $42,000 for the win and now has 13 starts, 5 wins, 1 second and 1 third for $192,180 in lifetime earnings. Dont Tell Noobody has won 3 of 5 starts in Oklahoma City for $173,086. He was bred in Oklahoma by Al Horton, who owned one of the greatest horses of all-time at Remington Park in Silver Goblin. The Jim Thorpe is named after the native Oklahoman and Olympic gold-medalist who was considered the greatest athlete of the 20th century.
