Breeders' Cup Dayoutoftheoffice Still Perfect After Frizette October 10, 2020 Credit: NYRA / Janet Garaguso Breeders' Cup Dayoutoftheoffice Still Perfect After Frizette October 10, 2020 By: Curtis "Magic" Kalleward twitteremail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article ELMONT, NY – Tim Hamm and Siena Farm’s Dayoutoftheoffice is still perfect through 3 starts after winning Saturday’s $250,000 Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park. The Frizette is a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” event, with Dayoutoftheoffice receiving an automatic berth in the Juvenile Fillies at Keeneland this November. ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Dayoutoftheoffice broke from post 5 under Junior Alvarado as the 5/2 second choice and settled into a stalking position outside of the 4/5 favorite Vequist. Just ahead of them, Joy’s Rocket posted opening fractions of :22.94 and :46.41, but midway through the far turn, Dayoutoftheoffice ranged up to take the lead. Straightening for home with Vequist chasing in vain behind her, Dayoutoftheoffice eventually crossed 2 lengths clear while completing the one-turn fast dirt mile in 1:35.82. I knew I had the horse in front of me, so I just made sure my filly got into a nice rhythm, and at the same time, keep everybody where I wanted them to be. It worked out great today. When I asked her turning for home, she responded beautifully.” While unable to close past the winner, Vequist held second by 10 1/4 lengths over Cilla. Joy’s Rocket, Cantata, and Get On the Bus completed the order of finish. Fifth Risk was scratched. Dayoutoftheoffice’s victory followed a 4 1/2-furlong maiden-breaking debut at Gulfstream Park in May and a 19/1 upset in July’s Schuylerville Stakes (G3) at Saratoga. The Into Mischief filly has now earned $216,500 for Hamm (who also trains) and Siena Farm (who also bred her). “When you put a plan together that works – the team of Siena Farm and myself and all our assistants – you feel vindicated,” Hamm said. “We all thought this filly was special when she won at 4 1/2 because we knew she would be able to get longer than that. She was able to get the job done today.” Dayoutoftheoffice returned $7.80 to win, $2.80 to place, and $2.80 to show. Vequist brought back $2.40 to place and $2.30 to show, while Cilla paid $5 to show.
