Breeders' Cup Covfefe vs. Come Dancing Highlights Filly and Mare Sprint October 30, 2019 Breeders' Cup Covfefe vs. Come Dancing Highlights Filly and Mare Sprint October 30, 2019 By: Aaron Halterman twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article The Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint will kick off the action on Saturday, November 2, at Santa Anita Park. Highlighting the entries are a pair of standouts in Covfefe and Come Dancing, who have each won four times this year. Scheduled for race four on the card, the race has drawn a field of 9 horses who are all looking to grab a piece of the $1,000,000 purse in this 7-furlong event. The full field from the rail out includes: ( Content Continues Below Ad ) #1 Covfefe – There is no doubt that this filly has shown an amazing amount of talent this season. She has won four of five starts, including major victories in the Test Stakes (G1) at Saratoga and a record-setting effort in the Miss Preakness Stakes (G3) at Pimlico. Last time out, she destroyed her rivals by 8 lengths in the Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs. #2 Danuska’s My Girl – She’ll look to rebound after her first poor showing of the year in the TCA Stakes (G2) at Keeneland. That was only her second off-the-board effort of the season. She has picked up a trio of Grade 3 stakes victories in California this year. #3 Heavenhasmynikki – Though lightly-raced this season, you can’t argue with her results. The 4-year-old Majestic Warrior filly has picked up three wins from four starts, including the Vagrancy Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park two races back. Last time out, she used a small stakes event at Thistledown as a prep for this race, cruising to victory by over 5 lengths. #4 Come Dancing – She comes into the race having won four of her last five starts, including the Ballerina Stakes (G1) at Saratoga two starts back. She is perfect in three starts this season at this 7-furlong distance, and all four of her victories have come by multiple lengths. Her latest workout has everyone buzzing about her chances coming into this race. #5 Lady Ninja – Last time out, she picked up the biggest win of her career in the local LA Woman Stakes (G3). She has also won two allowances races and a claiming event this season, all on the California circuit. She is a perfect four-for-four over this track, all against graded stakes foes. This will be her second start in a Breeders’ Cup race after finishing fourth as the favorite in last year’s Juvenile Fillies. #7 Selcourt – She comes into this race looking for redemption after finishing a well-beaten 12th in this event last year. Since that race, she has yet to pick up a win, but she has finished second in three of her last four starts. Last time out in her first start in over seven months, she finished second by a nose in the LA Woman Stakes (G3). #8 Dawn the Destroyer – This 5-year-old mare has quietly had a nice season, hitting the board in six of seven starts. She has had trouble finding the winner’s circle, earning just one win, but she has been close in several other races. That kind of consistency bodes well for her chances in this spot. #9 Spiced Perfection – This multiple Grade 1-winning filly will look to pad her resume after winning the TCA Stakes (G2) at Keeneland last time out. That start was her first off of a five-month layoff, which could mean that she is ready for an even better performance in this spot. She is easily one of the classiest horses in this race. The first Breeders’ Cup race on Saturday always brings a lot of excitement. This year will be no different, especially with the solid lineup that is set to contest this event. Star sprinters Covfefe and Come Dancing come into the race with all of the hype, while the local star Bellafina could be ready to run a big one over her home track.
