HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Lothenbach Stables’ Churn N Burn lived up to his name, firing strong on the front end all the way around en route to winning Saturday’s $200,000 Pan American Stakes Presented by Rood & Riddle (G2) at Gulfstream Park.
Churn N Burn broke quickly from the far outside post 8 under Julien Leparoux as the 11/2 fifth choice on the tote and was given a clear, uncontested lead.
After posting fractions of :24.07, :48.25, 1:12.55, and 1:36.82 through the opening mile, Churn N Burn rounded the far turn still without any close pursuers and struck off when asked.
The Ian Wilkes trainee crossed 2 1/2 lengths clear, completing the 1 1/2-mile firm turf route in 2:23.63.

Moon Over Miami improved from his mid-pack early position to take second by 3/4 of a length over Cross Border, the stalking 8/5 favorite who faded late and held off Sadler’s Joy by a neck for fourth.
Sir Sahib, Temple, Rijeka, and Angelus Warrior completed the order of finish.
Churn N Burn’s win came in his stakes debut and was his second straight following a local 1 1/2-mile optional claiming event that he won after using a close stalking trip. The 4-year-old Liam’s Map gelding, purchased for $255,000 as a yearling, improved his record to 10-3-2-2 with $250,450 earned.
Churn N Burn returned $13 to win, $7.20 to place, and $4 to show. Moon Over Miami brought back $5 to place and $3 to show. Cross Border paid $2.60 to show.
