Breeders’ Cup 2024 | 3 Favorites Who Will Be MASSIVE Underlays

The 2024 Breeders’ Cup World Championships are here! All 14 World Championship races have been drawn, odds posted, and picks being made. With so many betting opportunities in the two days at Del Mar, here’s 3 favorites who I believe will offer little to no value based on their chances to win as favorites.

1. War Like Goddess (5/2) – Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf

This has to be the worst favorite of the 14 Breeders’ Cup races. War Like Goddess has won ONE race in a year and that came in a Grade 3 at Delaware Park. Further, international trainers have won the Filly & Mare Turf 7 of the last 8 runnings. That ain’t her. She’s a MASSIVE bet against at these odds.

2. Cogburn (7/5) – Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint

Hear me out. Cogburn certainly is the one to beat here. He’s a beast and has had one hell of a year. With that said, taking 7/5 on him when I believe the international horses are LEGIT is dicey. Bradsell (GB) and Big Eve (IRE) are no joke and will be stalking Cogburn from jump. Can he win? 100%. But taking almost even money on him with this kind of talent in the race is super sketchy.

3. City Of Troy (5/2) – Breeders’ Cup Classic

I can already see the emails I’m going to get for this one. But similar to above, City Of Troy is incredibly talented and probably deserving of favoritism in the Classic. Aidan O’Brien bypassed running in the $5 Breeders’ Cup Turf to run here. Pretty telling move. But listen, this is one of the deepest, most competitive Classics we’ve had in recent history and City Of Troy is trying several things for the first time here. First time on dirt. First time in the US. Can he win? For sure. And he just might be a freak. But you will have to suck down a short price against a stacked field.
