The press release:

Claimed for $30,000 on Dec. 30, the Arrogate filly Everland is headed to the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks following her victory on Saturday in the $300,000 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

Ridden by Abel Cedillo for trainer Eric Foster, Everland skimmed the rail from the three-eighths pole to the wire, overhauling Winnable in the final furlong to win going away by 1 1/4 lengths. Winnable finished second, with Alpine Princess third, Youknownothing fourth, and Movin’ On Up fifth in the field of 10 3-year-old fillies.

The top five earned 50-25-15-10-5 qualifying points for the May 3 Kentucky Oaks. Band of Gold, Trial, pacesetter Maxisuperfly, Saratoga Secret, and Pink Polkadots (the 2-1 favorite) completed the order of finish.

Everland covered 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic surface in 1:44.36. She paid $24.10 to win.

Racing for Foster Family Racing, William J. Wargel, R.K. Eckrich Racing LLC, and Maxis Stable, Everland was bred by George Strawbridge Jr. She was produced from the Tapit mare, Ever Changing.

Foster claimed Everland from Strawbridge and trainer Jonathan Thomas out of the filly’s fourth career start and first time while carrying a claiming tag. She graduated from the maiden ranks that night despite a trouble-filled trip when she had to take up sharply entering the far turn when a horse directly in front of her stopped badly.

Despite the trouble in that race, Everland regained her momentum, split horses at the top of the stretch and went on to a three-quarter length victory. She jumped up next to win an allowance race, then finished fourth behind Foster stablemate Maxisuperfly next out in the Cincinnati Trophy on March 1.
