Bold Ruler Preview: Share the Ride Faces Favorable Pace Scenario

ELMONT, NY – Silvino Ramirez’s Share the Ride faces a favorable pace scenario and could take the field gate to wire in Saturday’s $100,000 Bold Ruler Handicap (G3) at Belmont Park.

The Bold Ruler is a 7-furlong dirt sprint open to horses ages 3 and up. This year’s edition is the penultimate event on a 10-race card and has a local post time of 4:57 PM.

Here’s a look at the full field for the Bold Ruler:

1. Mihos 4/1 – He returns for his second straight try over this course and distance after finishing an improving third against optional claimers last month. He tied his career-best Beyer Speed Figure that day, matching the 94 that he earned for winning a 7-furlong event at Gulfstream Park earlier this year, and should improve in his second start after a minor layoff.

2. Share the Ride 5/2 – He has become a new horse since trainer Antonio Arriaga claimed him for $16k out of a victory at Monmouth Park, saddling him to a 5-2-1-0 record that includes a dominating gate-to-wire score in the Mr. Prospector Stakes 2 starts back. He set the early pace before fading to third in the Vosburgh Stakes (G2) last time out, but this is a lighter field.

3. Wendell Fong 10/1 – He made his first 8 career starts with trainer Jeremiah Englehart, whose assistant at the time, Natalia Lynch, recently struck out on her own and brought him with her. Lynch helped prepare him for his lone stakes score in the 2019 Gold Fever and he should improve in his second official start under Lynch’s care after finishing fourth in the Mr. Prospector.

4. Arch Cat 10/1 – His 3-race win streak snapped last time out when he finished third against allowance rivals at Laurel Park after suffering a wide trip. He takes a sizeable step up in class, but this field came up a bit light and he should enjoy reuniting with Kendrick Carmouche, who has piloted him to 4 victories in 5 prior mounts.

5. Majestic Dunhill 5/2 – He ran seemingly too good to lose last time out in an optional claiming event over this course and distance, ultimately missing by a neck after dueling throughout. A stakes winner on both dirt and turf earlier in his career, he earned a career-best 97 Beyer Speed Figure in that most recent effort and Joel Rosario rides for the second straight time.

6. Phat Man 2/1 – He makes his first start back after finishing second behind Breeders’ Cup Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile (G1) contender Mr Freeze in February’s Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes (G2). He won the Fred W. Hooper Stakes (G3) in the start prior, earned triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures in each of those appearances, and off a similar layoff earlier in his career.
