Beholder Cruises Against Boys in Pacific Classic

Beholder Cruises Against Boys in Pacific Classic

The 5-year-old mare Beholder made easy work of her male competitors in the $1 million TVG Pacific Classic (Grade 1), but how she did it has everyone talking. The move. The move she made in the final turn is something only out of the American Pharoah playbook. You have to see it to believe it.

The Spendthrift Farm runner, with Hall of Famer Gary Stevens aboard, pulled away easily to win by 8 1/4 with a final time of 1:59.77. This was her first start against males, her first start at 1 1/4 miles and nearly broke the track record. Nothing confirmed, but you have to think the Breeders’ Cup Classic is now the goal. A goal that would include squaring off with Triple Crown winner American Pharoah. That is unless a match race is already in the works…
