HOT SPRINGS, AR – Trainer Peter Eurton’s Storm the Court will try to find his victory of the year in Saturday’s 2nd division of the $500,000 Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park.
Storm the Court debuted with an impressive 5 1/2-furlong score at Del Mar under jockey Flavien Prat, but they failed to get very far out of the gate together in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) after a rival bumped Storm the Court and dismounted Prat. He rebounded strongly and was ultimately voted the Eclipse Award 2019 Champion 2 Year Old Colt after he ended the year with a 45/1 upset score in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
Storm the Court returned in the San Vicente Stakes (G2) three months later and finished 2 1/4 lengths behind Nadal, whom he faces again here. The Court Vision colt’s most recent start was a third in the San Felipe Stakes (G2). This will be his first race outside of California.
