Wearing blinkers for the first time, Anothertwistafate broke from post 6 under Joel Rosario as the 5/2 second choice and settled into second heading into the clubhouse turn.

Bob and Jackie shot out to a lengthy early lead and posted opening fractions of :23.02, :46.95, and 1:11.62 before the field bunched up nearing the far turn.

Advancing while cornering, Anothertwistafate straightened for home with a convincing advantage and cleared off before crossing 2 1/4 lengths best.

The Peter Miller trainee completed the 1 1/8-mile firm turf route in 1:46.63.

“It was the first time with blinkers today and he broke really quick out of there,” Rosario said. “It looked like the other horse (Bob and Jackie) really wanted to go to the lead, so I had to just let it work out a little bit, let him sit off, and he did. He was fine after I put him behind the other horse. He was good.”

Bob and Jackie saved second by 2 lengths ahead of a photo for third that went to Next Shares by a nose over Multiplier.

Bowies HeroCleopatra’s Strike, and an eased Count Again – the even-money favorite who didn’t respond when asked to run – completed the order of finish.

Anothertwistafate’s win was his first on turf and third at the stakes level following 2019’s El Camino Real Derby and last September’s Longacres Mile Handicap (G3). The 5-year-old intact son of Scat Daddy’s record now stands at 10-5-2-0 with $490,505 earned.

“The first 1/2-mile, he was a little rank, then Joel got him to settle,” Miller said. “Joel recommended the blinkers after his last race. He made the lead and was gawking around. We wanted him to have a target (today). … We’ll look at the Pegasus, both the turf and the dirt. The dirt is more money, but obviously, there’s tougher horses in there.”

Anothertwistafate returned $7.60 to win, $4.80 to place, and $3.80 to show. Bob and Jackie brought back $7 to place and $4.80 to show, while Next Shares paid $4.40 to show.
