Breaking from post 4 under John Bisono, Adventist took back and saved ground while Asphalt Paving set the opening pace. With War Story sandwiched between the 3/5 favorite Marconi and Asphalt Paving on the rail, the pace opened in :24.60, :50.00, and 1:16.00.

Halfway down the backside, Asphalt Paving gave way, putting War Story on the lead. Marconi kept close watch on his outside, and off the far turn, the two were head and head.

Behind them, Adventist came rolling with a massive spurt, powering past the two favorites before drawing clear. The Uriah St. Lewis trainee won by 3 open lengths in a final time of 2:33.80 for the 1 1/2-mile event over the fast main track.

War Story edged Marconi for second by a length. Far behind them came Lemonade ThursdayHis Royal Majesty, and Asphalt Paving to complete the order of finish.
