( Content Continues Below Ad ) Juliet Foxtrot broke from post 3 under Tyler Gaffalione as the 8/5 favorite and went straight to the front, where she set opening fractions of :24.35, :49.45, and 1:13.72 while Tamahere and La Signare gave closest watch.Though she drifted out while rounding the far turn, Juliet Foxtrot was already far enough ahead that she proved uncatchable in the stretch. The Brad Cox trainee crossed 2 lengths clear, completing the yielding turf mile route in 1:44.51.Credit: Keeneland Photo“She really relished the ground,” Gaffalione said. “(The training team) said that they worked her a couple weeks back over a turf course similar to this and they said she just ate it up. As soon as she broke, I could feel that I had a ton of horse and she was loving every bit of it. I just put my hands down when she broke and she came right back to me. It was an easy ride today.”Tamahere took second by a neck over La Signare, while behind them came Etoile, Maxim Rate, and Micheline to complete the order of finish. Juliet Foxtrot’s win, her first in a Grade 1, came in her 2021 debut and her second attempt in the Jenny Wiley; she was third under Gaffalione in last year’s edition. The British-bred 6-year-old Dansili mare’s record improved to 20-6-2-3 with $701,831 earned.“She’s run some great races since,” said Garrett O’Rourke of Juddmonte Farms. “She has been Grade 1-placed and placed in this race last year. It was brave on behalf of everybody at Juddmonte to make the move to keep her (in training) for one more year to try to win that elusive Grade 1. This is huge for the mare. She looked absolutely magnificent today, and for as consistent of a performer as she’s been, I just think she thoroughly deserves it, which makes it all the more sweet for us.Juliet Foxtrot returned $5.40 to win, $3.40 to place, and $2.80 to show. Tamahere brought back $4 to place and $3.20 to show. La Signare paid $3.80 to show. Full Card Plays Now Available There’s a reason we’re the #1 trusted source for premium racing picks & info.
