LOUISVILLE, KY – Lukewarm favorites at 8/1 on the morning line when betting opened Friday, Life Is Good (7/1 final) and Essential Quality (8/1) nearly finished together as the top individual betting interests for Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) Pool 3. As is often the case, “All Other 3-Year-Olds” was the true favorite, though bettors cooled on that option slightly, letting it finish at 3/1 after opening at 9/5.
Wagering for KDFW Pool 3 opened February 12 at 12:00 PM and closed February 14 at 6:00 PM (both times Eastern). Fans without racetrack or simulcast center access were able to legally wager online through ADWs such as NYRA Bets and TVG.
The KDFW features $2 Win and Exacta wagering on possible entrants in the Kentucky Derby (G1), America’s greatest race and the first leg of the Triple Crown. The 2021 edition is scheduled for Saturday, May 1.

There are no refunds in the KDFW. Should Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of this week’s three-day pool that one of the wagering interests has experienced an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended immediately.

Dates for the remaining 2021 KDFW pools are March 5-7 (Pool 4) and March 26- 28 (Pool 5). The lone Kentucky Oaks (G1) Future Wager will coincide with Pool 4 of the KDFW.
