( Content Continues Below Ad ) Trained by Chad Brown and steered to victory by the nation’s leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr., Orglandes was bet down to even-money favoritism off of her 5/2 morning line. Ortiz Jr. waited until after straightening for home the final time to send her between rivals in the stretch, bumping with fellow east coast-based invader Blame Debbie as she reeled in longshot Going to Vegas in the shadow of the wire to win by a 1/2-length. Orglandes completed the 1 3/8-mile firm turf route in 2:15.85. “I had no special instructions; just ride her,” Ortiz Jr. said. “I liked where I was throughout the race. We thought this would be a better distance for her. … She did well with it.” ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Quick necked out Colonial Creed for third, while Blame Debbie was a 1/2-length clear of fading pacesetter Aunt Lubie for fifth. California Kook, Never Be Enough, Hollywood Girl, and Woodfin completed the order of finish. A steward’s inquiry into the contact between Orglandes and Blame Debbie did not result in any change to the original order of finish. The 4-year-old French-bred daughter of Le Havre improved her record to 10-4-2-3 with $154,772 earned lifetime that includes a 3-2-0-1 mark since leaving her native country and joining Brown in 2020. “Chad talked to the jockey in the morning,” said assistant trainer Jose Hernandez. “He said just to break and play off of it. It’s a mile and 3/8, a long race, so the jockey can do what he feels. The pace was good and he was in a really good position and then made a strong finish.” Orglandes returned $4.20 to win, $3.40 to place, and $2.80 to show. Going to Vegas brought back $11.80 to place and $6.20 to show, while Quick paid $5 to show.
