( Content Continues Below Ad ) Emro broke from the far outside post 11 under Shaun Bridgmohan at 7/1 odds and settled into stride in the back half of the field. Fouzia set the pace with Lady Edith close to her outside through opening fractions of :21.48 and :45.15. Emro suddenly burst from off the pace and took the lead in mid-stretch before clearing off to win by 2 3/4 lengths. The Brad Cox trainee completed the 6 1/2-furlong dash over the good turf course in 1:16.31. Credit: Coady Photography “She ran very well, very talented filly,” Bridgmohan said. “She’s 2-for-2. Last time, she went to the lead. Today, she came from off it. It shows her versatility. She ran a nice race.” Taylor’s Tourist rallied from last to take second by 3 lengths over a fading Fouzia, who just held onto third by a neck over Mad Maddy. Lady Edith, Lady Goldstart, the 9/5 favorite Red Ghost, Herald Angel, Kewpie Doll, and Becca’s Bouquet completed the order of finish for the race restricted to 2-year-olds. La Libertee stumbled badly out of the gate and tossed jockey Adam Beschizza. Luckily, both horse and rider returned relatively unharmed. The Point of Entry filly, purchased for $130,000 as a yearling, has now earned $261,400. “I was very proud of her,” Cox said. “She’s been training well, obviously. She got it done first time out and we’ve been pointing for this since she broke her maiden. Very, very happy with the performance and Shaun did a good job.” Emro returned $16.80 to win, $9 to place, and $7.40 to show. Taylor’s Tourist brought back $21.20 to place and $14.60 to show, while Fouzia paid $8.40 to show.
