( Content Continues Below Ad ) Breaking from post 3 under Tiago Pereira as the 2/1 second choice, Governor Goteven raced between Do You Hear That to her inside and Emma’s Dance opposite. After an opening 1/4-mile in :21.96, Do You Hear That began dropping off and left the two others to run ahead. Emma’s Dance straightened for home with a slight lead, but Governor Goteven soon re-engaged and took back control. Drawing off in the stretch to win by 4 1/2 lengths, the Lisa Bernard trainee completed the 6-furlong fast dirt dash in a final time of 1:12.21. Then, she just started to pull away. She’d been training well for this. She’s a nice filly.” The even-money favorite I’m So Anna had a moderate closing rally to take second by a 1/2-length and a length over Big Andy and a fading Emma’s Dance, respectively. Do You Hear That and Mucha Woman – who steadied hard heading into the far turn and never recovered – completed the order of finish. Will Take a Kiss was scratched. Governor Goteven’s victory followed similar success in the CTBA Stakes and improved her record to 3-3-0-0. The juvenile Govenor Charlie filly has now earned $144,000. “I was feeling a lot of nerves, but I trust this filly and she has been training awesome,” Bernard said. “We had high expectations, but you don’t know until they prove themselves out there, especially with 2-year-olds. In her daily training, you can see she wants to run. It’s in her blood. That’s what she wants to do. It definitely is a dream come true. There’s no words to describe it.” Governor Goteven returned $6.80 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.40 to show. I’m So Anna brought back $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show, while Big Andy paid $2.10 to show.
