HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Palm Beach Racing’s Hot Blooded and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Michael Hernon, and Gary Barber’s Spanish Loveaffair earned their respective stakes stripes while covering mile-long turf routes at Gulfstream Park in Saturday’s $75,000 Proud Man Stakes and the $75,000 Sharp Susan Stakes.
In the Proud Man, Hot Blooded and jockey Emisael Jaramillo closely stalked early before succeeding under a drive in the stretch to win as the 3/1 second choice.
The Florida-bred 2-year-old Declaration of War colt, trained by Carlos David, now sports a record of 3-2-0-0 with $84,640 earned.
Hot Blooded returned $8 to win, $4.40 to place, and $3 to show. Boca Boy brought back $7.40 to place and $4 to show, while Castle King paid $3 to show.

Two races later in the Sharp Susan, Spanish Loveaffair proved good on her 1/2 favoritism, clearing off in the stretch under jockey Victor Lebron for victory.
The Mark Casse-trained juvenile Karakontie filly remains perfect through 2 starts and has now earned $68,640.
Spanish Loveaffair returned $3 to win, $2.20 to place, and $2.10 to show. Director’s Cut brought back $4 to place and $3.20 to show, while Mashugana paid $11.40 to show.
