( Content Continues Below Ad ) Sent from post 5 under Emma-Jayne Wilson at 5/1 odds, Elizabeth Way stalked outside of Another Time through opening fractions of :24.41, :46.92, and 1:09.61. Keeping pace as the leader quickened in the far turn, Elizabeth Way fought tooth and nail before getting up in the shadow of the wire to win by a neck. The Roger Attfield trainee completed the firm turf mile in a final time of 1:33.26. “Her form is all over the place – one minute she’s on the lead, one minute she’s at the back of the bus,” said Wilson, who currently sits tied with Rafael Hernandez as the meet’s leading riders with 15 wins through the first 12 days. “Watching the replays gave me a real understanding as to what she needed to do. It was really about getting her into a good rhythm, and that’s what Roger and I talked about as well. I got her out of the gate… and just got her happy into a rhythm and, you could see, she just galloped them down and she just kept on. She’s a stayer.” The 2/1 favorite Malakeh closed in the stretch but ran out of real estate before crossing 3/4 of a length behind the top pair. Amalfi Coast, Nantucket Red, and Eyeinthesky completed the order of finish. Lunar Garden was scratched. Elizabeth Way’s win was her third since McCormack purchased the Irish-bred last November for $64,219, a mark that includes February’s The Very One Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park. The 4-year-old Frankel filly improved her lifetime record to 10-3-2-1 with $205,048 earned. Elizabeth Way returned $13.30 to win, $5.70 to place, and $3.30 to show. Another Time brought back $4 to place and $2.70 to show, while Malakeh paid $2.60 to show.
