The Classic returns to its traditional position as the final race of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Saturday, October 31, with post time scheduled for 6:16 p.m. ET.

Forever Young Seeks Historic Repeat
Japan’s Forever Young, who made history in 2025 as the first Japanese winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic, returns looking to join an exclusive club.
Trained by Yoshito Yahagi for owner Susumu Fujita, Forever Young is the 2-1 morning-line favorite and will break from post 5 under Ryusei Sakai.
The son of Real Steel (JPN) will attempt to become just the second horse to win back-to-back editions of the Classic, joining Tiznow, who accomplished the feat in 2000 and 2001.
Sovereignty Leads Powerful American Challengers
Standing in Forever Young’s way is a formidable group of American stars, led by Godolphin’s reigning Horse of the Year Sovereignty.
Trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, Sovereignty captured the 2025 Kentucky Derby (G1), Belmont Stakes (G1), and Travers Stakes (G1) before adding the Whitney Stakes (G1) this summer.
The son of Into Mischief is the 5-2 second choice on the morning line and will break from post 2 with Junior Alvarado aboard.
Mott will also saddle Godolphin’s Knightsbridge (9-2), winner of the Pacific Classic Stakes (G1), who drew post 7.
Another major contender is Winchell Thoroughbreds’ Magnitude (6-1), whose victories in the Dubai World Cup (G1) and Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) have established him as one of the nation’s leading older dirt horses. He will break from post 6.
Talented 3-Year-Olds Add Intrigue
The Classic also features a talented group of 3-year-olds looking to upset their older rivals.
Golden Tempo (5-1), winner of the 2026 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, represents Phipps Stable, St. Elias Stable, and trainer Cherie DeVaux. He drew post 3.
Napoleon Solo (15-1), winner of the Preakness Stakes (G1), will break from post 8 for trainer Chad Summers and Espoir USA.
The Puma (10-1), fresh off a victory in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1), drew post 4 for trainer Gustavo Delgado and his ownership group.
Rounding out the field is Japan’s T O Password (JPN) (30-1), a multiple stakes winner who finished fifth in the 2024 Kentucky Derby. Trained by Daisuke Takayanagi, he drew the rail.
