The pre-entries for the 2017 Breeders’ Cup have been announced! For the first time ever, Del Mar will host the two-day event on November 3-4. Saturday’s feature race, the Breeders’ Cup Classic, features top horses Gun Runner, Arrogate, and Collected. Saturday highlights also include the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, where the 2-year-olds take center stage while taking their first giant steps towards the 2018 Kentucky Derby. Friday’s feature race will be the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, where Stellar Wind will take on a host of strong 3-year-olds and top older mare Forever Unbridled. A total of 187 horses, including a record 46 from overseas, were pre-entered for the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships. A maximum of 14 starters are allowed in each of the 13 Breeders’ Cup World Championships races with the exception of the Turf Sprint, which is limited to 12 starters. Oversubscribed horses also listed below for each race in order of ranking as determined by the Racing Secretaries and Directors Panel.
