Saratoga Catch a Glimpse Plans to Run at Saratoga July 18, 2016 Saratoga Catch a Glimpse Plans to Run at Saratoga July 18, 2016 By: Michael Spector twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article The recent Grade-1 Belmont Oaks winner, Catch a Glimpse, will be pointed to her next start at Saratoga on August 21 in the Grade-2 Lake Placid. “Catch a Glimpse looks like she came out of her race at Belmont in good order,” said assistant trainer Norman Casse. “She may have lost a little weight, but soundness-wise and everything, she looks great. The plan right now is to run her in the Lake Placid.” The 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner shipped up to Saratoga from Belmont Park last week and has been getting used to her new surroundings. “Right now, as long as she’s training well and doing as good as she normally does, she’ll run in the Lake Placid at the end of the meet,” said Casse. The Lake Placid will be run at 1 & 1/8 mile, which is a cut-back from her win in the Belmont Oaks on July 9 at 1¼ mile. Distance does not seem to concern regular jockey Florent Geroux, though. “She’s amazing. It’s not like she’s winning at the same track and same distance,” said Geroux, who will be riding full-time at the Saratoga meet. “She always puts herself in a good spot. Some people say she’s having good trips, (but) she puts herself in good trips. I don’t need to do much from there. I just need to nurse her and push her button when it’s time to go.” Catch a Glimpse’s only career start at Saratoga was her debut race on July 30, where she only finished fifth on the dirt at 5½ furlongs. After that, she moved to the turf and hasn’t lost since, as she has gone on an impressive eight-race winning streak. Included in that streak are two Grade-1 wins, a Grade-2 triumph and four Grade-3 victories to polish off her perfect record on the grass. Two back, she beat three-year old males in her Grade-3 Penn Mile win. Catch a Glimpse at the Mark Casse barn in Saratoga on July 18 (Photo: Michael Spector) “I rode her from almost the beginning. It was her third race and she’s been winning since,” said Geroux. In the NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll released on July 18, Catch a Glimpse was ranked ninth overall among all thoroughbreds in North America. No other three-year old turf filly received a vote amongst the 40 turf writers. Of all three-year old fillies, only Songbird was ranked higher in sixth-place in the rankings.
