Wow, what an impressive week for our Bottom-10 teams. They went 4-6 as a group and we are going to lose three of them out of our poll. Let’s recognize them:
No10: UNLV did the unthinkable and won their 2nd game in a row with a 27-13 win over Hawaii. This earns them a pass out of the Bottom-10 for the first time all year. We don’t want to see you back.
No.8: OHIO won their third game and upset Eastern Michigan. It is almost impossible to be in the Bottom-10 with three losses. Congratulations to the Bobcats.
No.7 KANSAS went into Austin and looked as though they were going to blow the game against the equally inept Longhorns. Trailing 56-49 in overtime, the Jayhawks scored a touchdown, then went for the 2-pt. conversion and made it, to win 57-56. This win allows them to escape and head into the real world. Special mention should go to the on-field celebration afterwards. It was classic.
Let’s update the new poll.
No.10: ARKANSAS STATE 2-8: Much thought was given to voting the Red Wolves out of the poll. They got a big win last week and the deciding factor leaving them in, was, I’ve never seen a Red Wolf. Next Loss: Hawaii
NO.9: INDIANA 2-8: Welcome to the Hoosiers making their debut into the Bottom-10. They are one of the most disappointing teams of the year and they deserve this spot in the poll. Next Loss: Minnesota
NO.8: RICE 2-8: The Owls have fought their way back into the poll after three straight losses. Next Loss: at UTEP
NO.7 VANDERBILT 2-8: They Commodores escaped once but didn’t like it on the outside and after 5 straight losses they are back where they belong. Next Loss: at Ole Miss
NO.6 TULANE 1-9: They had a golden opportunity to get out of here, but their field goal kicker decided against it, and missed a gimme that could have won the game against Tulsa. Next Loss: South Florida
NO.5 NEW MEXICO STATE 1-9: They play their 2nd straight SEC team. What is wrong with their AD? Next Loss: at Kentucky
NO.4 SOUTHERN MISS 1-9: They weren’t supposed to be this bad. Next Loss: at Louisiana Tech
NO.3 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 1-9: They are really bad, but they can’t bump the two ahead of them out.. Next Loss: North Texas
NO.1A UMASS 1-9: The Minutemen lost to Maine, which is their 2nd straight loss to an FCS school. Because they beat UCONN in a head-to-head matchup, we can’t move them up to No.1 by themselves. Therefore, they now share it with the Huskies. Next Loss: at Army
NO.1 UCONN 1-9: The Huskies came off of a 2-week vacation and picked up right where they left off. Next Week: at UCF
Dropped out: UNLV, Ohio, and Kansas
Busting Down the Fence to Get In: Arizona, South Florida, Akron,
