NCAAF Free Pick: TCU (3-2) at Oklahoma (6-0) 10/16/21 October 14, 2021 The Oklahoman NCAAF Free Pick: TCU (3-2) at Oklahoma (6-0) 10/16/21 October 14, 2021 By: Mike Halterman email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article This is a fascinating game because of all the distractions within the Oklahoma program concerning the quarterback situation. The Sooners are coming off an improbable, unbelievable win over Texas last week and there is always a chance they they will be emotionally flat. The Frogs are definitely good enough (especially on offense), to beat Oklahoma and they went to Texas Tech last week and got a season-saving win, 52-30 over the Red Raiders. Here are the matchups.QUARTERBACKS: Max Duggan is the TCU quarterback and he has completed 75 out of 116 attempts for 1003 yards with 9 touchdowns. He is also a threat to run the ball and he has 53 carries for 260 yards. There are rumors that he is questionable to play this week, but if he is healthy he will give OU trouble. Everyone assumes Oklahoma will start freshman, Caleb Williams, one of the heroes of the Texas game. He doesn’t have many stats but it is obvious he is a talented player. Advantage: TCURUNNING BACKS: Zach Evans has been outstanding at running back for the Horned Frogs. He has rushed for 587 yards and 5 touchdowns. Kendre Miller has 310 yards and 6 touchdowns and Duggan is a threat also. Oklahoma has Kennedy Brooks who exploded last week in Dallas and now has 551 yards on 79 and has scored 6 touchdowns. He is complimented by Eric Gray who has 292 yards and Williams adds the quarterback run threat to the ground game. Advantage: NeitherRECEIVERS: Taye Barber, Derius Davis, and Quentin Johnson have combined for 38 catches for 555 yards and 4 touchdowns for TCU. The Sooners have a potential star, in Marvin Mims (19 for 400 yards), and Michael Woods, Mario Williams, and Jadon Haselwood have combined for 66 catches and 609 yards and 6 TD’s. Advantage: OklahomaDEFENSE: Oklahoma has been good against the run and they are limiting teams to 91 yards rushing per game. On the other hand, the Frogs are struggling against the run, allowing 206 yards per game. This favors the Sooners and they will try and pound the ball. The Sooners are struggling in the secondary allowing 266 yards a game, through the air. Overall, Oklahoma has played better than TCU. Advantage: OklahomaThere is so much to wait on before placing a bet on this one. TCU has their two best offensive players, (Max Duggan and Zach Evans) who are listed as questionable and if they don’t play, the Frogs are in big trouble. Then, there is the quarterback issue at Oklahoma and how is that going to play out. There is a whole lot of drama in this one. Oklahoma is a 13.5-point favorite.DUDES WHO BET SPORTS: TCU +13.5
