NCAAF Free Pick: Michigan (5-0) at Nebraska (3-3) 10/9/21 October 6, 2021 Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports NCAAF Free Pick: Michigan (5-0) at Nebraska (3-3) 10/9/21 October 6, 2021 By: Mike Halterman email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article One could wonder why we are thinking an undefeated Michigan against a 3-loss Nebraska will be a good game and is one of the best of the week. We really don’t need to explain but if you are curious here is why we selected it. Michigan is in the hunt for the Big10 Championship and they are coming off a big road win over Wisconsin and this is a game that could be a trap. In addition to that, Nebraska has been getting better and better and blasted Northwestern last week 56-7. Can they pull off the upset? Let’s break it down. Quarterback: Michigan is led by Cade McNamara who has 50 completions in 81 attempts for 731 yards and 5 touchdowns and no interceptions. He isn’t flashy but he has been very efficient. The Cornhuskers will counter with Adrian Martinez who does everything in their offense. He has thrown for 1463 yards and six touchdowns and is the leading rusher with 535 yards and 9 touchdowns. Michigan will have to be able to control him. Advantage: Nebraska Running Backs: The Wolverines running game has a one-two punch with Blake Corum (522 yards and 7 touchdowns) and Hassan Haskins (373 yards and 6 TD’s). They are a run first team. Nebraska is led by Martinez and is aided by Rahmir Johnson. Advantage: Michigan Receivers: The go-to guy for Michigan has been Cornelius Johnson who has 10 catches for 245 yards. The Huskers have a good one of their own in Samori Toure who has 23 receptions for 483 yards and 3 touchdowns. They also will utilize their 6’9″ tight end, Austin Allen who has 17 catches for 163 yards. Advantage: Nebraska Defense: The Wolverines have been very good on defense to start this season, but they will be facing the best offense they have seen. DE, Aidan Hutchinson has 6 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks and has put constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Linebackers, Josh Ross and Nikhai Hill-Green have combined for 55 tackles. Nebraska has played well on defense also and are stingy against the run. They are led by linebackers, Luke Reimer and Nick Henrich who have 94 tackles between them. Advantage: Michigan There isn’t much difference in these two teams even though Michigan is undefeated and Nebraska has three losses. Nebraska is a little more versatile on offense and Martinez can be the difference if he plays well. The other key will be if Michigan is able to run the ball against a good Nebraska rush defense. Memorial Stadium will be rocking in Lincoln Saturday night. The Wolverines are a 3.5 point favorite. DUDES WHO BET SPORTS PICK: Nebraska +3.5
