Breeders' Cup Breeders’ Cup Predictions #6 October 16, 2014 Breeders' Cup Breeders’ Cup Predictions #6 October 16, 2014 By: Aaron Halterman twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article Changes this week: The Mile The Classic – Shared Belief – Working well at Golden Gate, and will likely ship to Santa Anita the week of the race. Can he continue his undefeated streak? The Mile – Veda – Had to do some major studying with the defection of Wise Dan, and landed on a filly who has a world of talent and looks like she likes firm ground. The Distaff – Beholder – After the flop by Close Hatches she now has to be the pick. Was obviously a bit short last time, but that’s why they call them prep races. The Turf – Flintshire – Since it looks as though The Grey Gatsby will not be making the trip, Flintshire is now the pick. If he doesn’t show, then another Euro horse will surely take his spot. The Sprint – Work All Week – Who knows what is going to happen in this one. I put Work All Week as my top pick, but this thing is a complete grab bag of craziness. The Juvenile – American Pharoah – The competition has stiffened significantly now with Pletcher speedsters popping up like crazy. Still believe he’s the best of the bunch, and he also will have home advantage. The Turf Sprint – Reneesgotzip – You have to pick a horse with experience on the down hill turf course in this race, so that’s why I’ve picked Reneesgotzip for now. Finished 3rd in 2012 and 2nd in 2013…no Mizdirection to contend with this year so third time could be a charm. The Filly and Mare Sprint – Midnight Lucky – If she fires fresh she’s clearly the best of the group, but will she be at her best? A lot of question marks with her. Hopefully the layoff makes her price decent. The Filly and Mare Turf – Dank – If she comes back to defend her title I think she’s a clear standout in this group. Not considering others unless she doesn’t come over. The Juvenile Fillies – Angela Renee – Almost changed to Light the City and still might, but for now Angela Renee is my pick. The Juvenile Fillies Turf – Malabar – It doesn’t really look like she’s coming, but she’ll remain my pick until I know what Euro’s will be making the trip. The Dirt Mile – Goldencents – His loss in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship doesn’t bother me one bit. He’ll stretch out to a mile in the Breeders Cup, and he will dominate. The Juvenile Turf – Aktabantay – Much like my pick of Malabar, I’m going with a Euro in this race no matter what happens. We’ll see who shows up.
