1. Steve Asmussen

After a monster summer at Saratoga, Asmussen seems ready to win a bunch on the biggest stage come November. He’s loaded for the Sprint with a plethora of talent and also looks stacked in both Juvenile dirt divisions. He’ll even have a couple of nice contenders in the Classic, though they might be double digit prices. Basically, if it’s a race contested on the dirt, look for Asmussen to have a big chance.

2. Brad Cox

He may not have the same depth that he had at last year’s Breeders’ Cup, but he has the two favorites for the Classic; that alone is very impressive. Essential Quality and Knicks Go both possess the talent to win the big event while having opposite running styles, which also helps their chances. Cox will be once again well-represented in the Distaff, as well as several other spots where he could pull off an upset.

3. Todd Pletcher

After a couple of light years with his 2-year-old crops, Pletcher seems back in a big way this season, with several prospects lined up with shots at the Breeders’ Cup. He should have a busy Friday with his juveniles and Life Is Good will give him a good chance to pick up a win on Saturday, depending on where he enters. Pletcher also has a couple of under-the-radar horses that should set him up for a big weekend.
