The Racing Dudes give their instant reactions to the post draw for the 2022 Pegasus World Cup (G1), featuring what will hopefully become an epic showdown between Knicks Go and Life Is Good. Below the video, Aaron gives his horse-by-horse analysis.

#1 Knicks Go – It’ll be one last trip around the race track for the 2021 Horse of the Year as he looks to become the first ever two-time Pegasus World Cup (G1). Last year, he kicked off his season with a dominating win in this race, before having a monster run to end his year that ended in a Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) romp last time out. He is the best horse in the country; however, he faces a challenge like he’s never faced before in Life Is Good. Will he crack under the pressure of another speedy horse? We’re about to find out.

#2 Chess Chief – This guy will drop back and make one run in this spot, which might not be a bad strategy here. The pace should be ultra-quick, and if he’s ready to fire a big race, he could be the one running best late. The probability of him winning isn’t great, but he can hit the board at a nice price.

#3 Stilleto Boy – This horse ships in from California after showing consistent form in his last several races. However, he has not won a race since July at Prairie Meadows, where he took him the Iowa Derby in impressive fashion. He’s been competitive in two straight Grade 1 races, though, which is a good sign for him heading into this event.

#4 Life Is Good – It’s time to find out just how good this horse is going to be. He has been nothing short of spectacular in all of his starts so far, including an absolute romp in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) last time out. Oddly enough, that race has produced two next out Pegasus World Cup (G1) winners, so this is familiar territory. However, he has never defeated a horse like Knicks Go, so the class level ramps up a notch for him today. Can he handle it?

#5 Empty Tomb – It’ll be hard pressed for this horse to make much noise. He scratched out of a small stakes at Aqueduct last week, and we didn’t even like him much there, so it’s hard to make a case for him here.

#6 Sir Winston – He looks to be the classic “hit the board” candidate in this spot. So many times a big price has been able to finish up strongly and hit the board here, while this years version should have plenty of pace for the closer to make a move. He is a definite candidate to get up for a piece of things.

#7 Title Ready – He’s won just twice in the last two years, which isn’t a good place to start, while this is easily the toughest field he has face yet. This one making an impact would be a major surprise; however, Dallas Stewart horses sometimes can outrun their odds in big races.

#8 Endorsed – It’s been an extra long time since we’ve seen this guy hit the wire first. He has been up against some nice horses, though, while he does always seem to give you an honest effort. If everything goes right, he could round out the superfecta.

#9 Commandeer – They’ll ask this guy to take on stakes company for the first time in this spot. Yikes…that’s a really tough assignment. However, at least the horse has won two straight coming into his one, so we know he’s in good form.
