National Football League action on Sunday afternoon and we will see the AFC West take on the AFC East as the Los Angeles Chargers grapple with the Buffalo Bills at Bills Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. The Chargers enter this game off a 34-28 home win over the Jets to move to 3-7 on the year, while the Bills come in off a 32-30 loss to the Cardinals on the road to fall to 7-3 on the year. These teams last met back in 2018 and the Bolts won that game o the road by a score of 31-20.
Bolts Hold Of Late New York RallyIt has been another rough season for the Los Angeles Chargers as they enter this game at just 3-7 on the year. Their three wins this year have come against teams that are currently a combined 3-26-1. Now that is sad, but at least they aren't losing to those teams. In their last game, the Bolts took on the Jets at home and walked out with a hard-fought 34-28 win. They nearly blew the game after leading 24-6 at the half. The Bolts just haven't figured how to put away teams. Justin herbert had another big game as he threw for 366 yards with three TDs and no INTs while completing 37 of 49 pass attempts. Herbert is a star in the making, and you can see why the Chargers took him 6th overall. He has now thrown for 2699 yards with 22 TDs and six INTs while completing 68% of his passes. His QBR is 104.7, which is 8th in the league.
Herbert could have a good game against a Buffalo defense that is 17th against the pass. The Chargers have been hit with injuries to their ground game, but they are still ranked 10th in the league in rushing while the Bills are 28th against the run. Joshua Kelley leads the team in rushing with 337, while Kalen Ballage had 44 yards to lead LA's ground game last week. The defense is where the Chargers will have to sep up in this one as the Bills have been explosive on offense. The key to stopping the Bills is locking down their passing game, which is 4th in the league, and the bolts come in ranked 12th against the pass. They held the Jets to just 196 yards last week. It will not be that easy this week.
Bill Look To Regroup From Tough Loss In The DesertThe Buffalo Bills are off their bye week, and that gave them extra time to stew over a horrible loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The Bills had just taken a 30-26 lead with 34 seconds left in the game, but with two seconds left on the clock, Kyler Murray connected with DeAndre Hopkins on what is now called the "Hail Murray." It was a very tough loss for a Bills team that is now 7-3 on the year. They are in first place in the AFC East, but their lead over the Dolphins is just one game. This is a game the Bills cannot afford to lose, especially with the Dolphins playing the hapless Jets this week. The Bills had 369 yards of total offense against the Cards, with 296 of them coming through the air.Josh Allenhas had a great year, throwing for 2871 yards with 21 TDs to seven INTs, and he did throw for 284 yards and two TDs against the Cards, but he also had two costly picks.
Stefon Diggs has been a great addition to the WRY corp, and he currently leads the team with 906 yards and four TDs. He has already caught 73 passes in just ten games. The Chargers will have to pay close attention to him in this one. The Bills had just 73 yards rushing on the Cards, and that has been a problem for them all year as they enter this game ranked 27th in rushing. Devin Singeltary leads the team with 401 yards, but he has just one TD on the year. The defense for the Bills allowed the Cards to put up 453 yards of total offense, which included 217 on the ground and 236 through the air. Buffalo cannot let opposing offenses be that balanced. They will be facing a good offense in this one with a red hot QB.
Stats & Trends
Los Angeles is:
- 5-0 in Chargers last 5 vs. the AFC
- 5-1 in Chargers last 6 vs. a team with a winning record

- 15-6 in Bills last 21 games as a home favorite
- 6-1-1 in Bills last 8 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game
I have to go with the Over in this one. The Bolts have a hot young QB in Justin Herbert, and he will need to throw the ball a lot to help his team keep pace against the Bills. Herbert will be facing a Buffalo defense that has not been great against the pass this year. The Bills know how to air it out as they are 4th in the league in passing, and the Bolts have allowed 253.4 ypg through the air on the road. LA can score, and they have averaged 27.0 ppg over their last three games, but they have also allowed 29.3 ppg over that stretch. The Bills have averaged a solid 32.7 ppg over their last three games, and they have allowed 29.0 ppg over that same stretch. With as good as Herbert has been playing and as good as Allen has been this year overall, it is hard to expect anything by a shootout between these two gunslingers.
