We have a Pac-12 matchup to discuss for Saturday when the 0-1 Arizona Wildcats meet the 1-0 Washington Huskies. Arizona lost to twentieth-ranked USC by a score of 34-30 and Washington defeated Oregon State by a score of 27-21 last Saturday afternoon.
Arizona Falls to USC
Sophomore quarterback Grant Gunnell threw for 286 yards with three touchdowns and one interception last week against USC. His main targets are Tayvian Cunningham and Stanley Berryhill III. Cunningham caught five balls for 110 yards with a touchdown and they face a Huskies defense that allowed 85 passing yards last week against Oregon State.
Senior running back Gary Brightwell is the Wildcats main ball carrier and he rushed for 112 yards last week while Gunnell scampered for 40 yards. They face a Washington defense that allowed 167 rushing yards last week.
Arizona allowed 34 points and 498 total yards of offense last week and are up against a Huskies offense that scored 27 points with 408 yards of offense. The Wildcats will have real trouble stopping the Huskies ground game that racked up 267 yards against Oregon State last week.

Washington Defeats Oregon State
Washington started its season on a good note with a 27-20 home win over Oregon State. It was a good start for a Huskies team that finished its 2019 season with an 8-5 record culminating in a 38-7 Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl victory over Boise State.
Freshman quarterback Dylan Morris threw for 141 yards last week and rushed for an additional 21 yards and a touchdown. His main weapons are wideout Terrell Bynum and running back Cameron Davis. They face an Arizona defense that allowed 325 passing yards last week to USC.
The Huskies run the football and running back Sean McGrew is their leading rusher with 91 yards and a touchdown last week. Running back Kamari Pleasant and Richard Newton were both heavily involved last week and they face an Arizona defense that allowed 173 rushing yards last week.
Washington allowed 21 points but only 252 yards of offense last week against Oregon State and they face a Wildcats offense that is decent throwing the ball as well as rushing the football.

The Pick
Washington is favored by 11.5 points and that number is too high for this game. Arizona played very well against USC and I suspect that will carry over in this ballgame. The Huskies defense is pretty good but not good enough to stop Arizona enough to cover this spread. Not only that, but the Washington offense isn’t good enough to outscore Arizona by 11.5 points. I will take the points and go with Arizona to cover the spread in this contest.
