On Tuesday, the ACC will have three games on the schedule for college hoops fans to enjoy. The most intriguing game of the night will be our game between Duke and Clemson from Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, SC. Tip-off is set for 7:00 P.M ET on ESPN. It will be their only meeting this season.
Duke Has Lost One Game So Far
The Duke Blue Devils are one of the best teams in the nation, ranking №1 overall in the KenPom rankings and №3 overall in the AP Top 25. To date, their only loss came in an upset to Evansville, beating all 15 of their other opponents. Going into Tuesday, they’re riding a nine-game winning streak which includes all five of their ACC games and a win over №5 Michigan State.

Duke has a balanced team, with their offense and defense both ranking in the Top 5 in KenPom’s efficiency rankings. Vernon Carey Jr. and Tre Jones are their two standouts, with Carey Jr. leading the team in points (17.4 ppg) and rebounds (8.6 rpg) and Jones leading the team in assists (7.0 apg) and second on the team in scoring (14.9 ppg). As a unit, they’re shooting 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and getting offensive rebounds at a dizzying rate (38.6 percent, №3 in nation). Likewise, their defense is holding teams to less than 30 percent shooting from three-point range and forcing 17.1 turnovers per game.
Clemson Coming Off Monumental W
The Clemson Tigers are having an up-and-down season this year, winning eight of their 15 games. They’re eight spots lower in the KenPom rankings than where they started (№78 to №86), having gone through a five-game winning streak and a four-game losing streak. Going into Tuesday, they’re riding back-to-back wins, including a monumental win at North Carolina, and will improve their ACC record to an even 3–3 with a win over Duke.

Clemson is a team led by its defense, which ranks in the Top 50 in KenPom’s efficiency rankings. Their offense, however, has the fourth-lowest efficiency rating in the ACC at №161. Junior Aamir Simms is their standout, leading the Tigers in almost every category; Simms is averaging team-bests in scoring (13.9 ppg), rebounds (7.5 rpg), steals (1.3 spg), and blocks (0.8 bpg). Additionally, he also has the second-most assists on the team (37) and is shooting 38.3 percent from beyond the arc. As a unit, the Tigers are shooting just 32.3 percent from beyond the arc and they rank 13th in the ACC in offensive rebounds per game (8.6). That said, they have averaged 80 points per game in their last two games, both wins against ACC opponents.
Stats & Trends
- Over is 3-1 in their last 4 home games vs. Clemson.
- Over is 6-1 in Tigers last 7 Tuesday games.
- Over is 6-2 in Tigers last 8 games following an ATS win.
- Over is 5-2 in Tigers last 7 games following a straight-up win.
This is a great spot for an OVER. Both of these offenses have been firing on all cylinders recently, with Duke posting 88 or more points in three of their last four games. Overall, the Blue Devils are averaging 83.8 points per game this season, second-most in the entire nation, but they've been even better in their last four (86.5 ppg) and that's against four ACC teams. Likewise, the Tigers are averaging 80 points per game in their last two ACC games, and they haven't had an under in any of their last three ACC games. On top of their scoring abilities, the number is surprisingly low. Take the OVER here. It's gonna fly over.
