The LA Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies get set to play a back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday in Memphis. The Clippers come in the mini series at 23-10 while the Grizzlies are 13-14. The Clippers took 2 of 3 from the Grizzlies last season, but they have not yet played this season. The Clippers are favored but the scrappy Grizzlies always seem to play close games.
Clippers back to full strengthThe LA Clippers are as healthy as they have been all season, so look for them to go on an extended run here, barring another injury. They have won 2 of their last 3 games including 135-116 win over the Wizards on Tuesday. The Clippers were on fire, shooting 57% from the floor and 50% from three-point range. The Clippers drained a total of 19 threes and out rebounded the Wizards 46-36.

Oh wait...that was in the FIRST HALF.
Funny how I see no one talking about it 🤔 pic.twitter.com/snAlsKm5Yt
Kawhi Leonard led the way with 32 points and 7 rebounds while Paul George added 30 points with 6 three-pointers. Reggie Jackson added 17 points off the bench while Ivica Zubac and Terrance Mann added 12 points each.Lou Williams missed the game for personal reason and is questionable for Thursday's game. But otherwise the Clippers are healthy. they are now 23-10 and are second in the Western Conference, 3 games behind the Utah Jazz.
Grizzlies drop 2 in a rowThe Memphis Grizzlies are somehow hanging around .500 despite tons of injuries and, frankly, not having a very good roster. They play hard and get the most out of their abilities and for that reason you can never take them too lightly. However, the Grizzlies are coming off back to back losses to Phoenix and Dallas and now have two games with the Clippers. They currently stand at 13-14.
They lost at Dallas on Monday 102-92. Memphis only shot 39% from the floor and just 19% from three-point range. Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 22 points and 9 assists while Desmond Bane had 12 points off the bench. Joan Valanciunas had 11 points and 15 rebounds while Brandon Clarke also tossed in 11 points. As far as injuries go, Dillon Brooks is questionable with a thigh injury and has missed the last 2 games. Jaren Jackson is out until mid-March.
Stats & Trends
- Clippers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games.
- Clippers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
- Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
- Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games.
As previously stated, the Grizzlies really have no business being anywhere near .500 with the talent, or lack thereof, they trot out on to the floor every night. That's no an insult, in fact. it's testament to how hard they play. Plus, they have some key injuries, namely to their second best player, Jaren Jackson. But when they face an extremely talented team like the Clippers, well, they just don't stand much of a chance. The Grizzlies will keep this close because of how hard they play and because the Clippers may be going through the motions, but eventually, the Clippers will get serious and win comfortable. So take the Clippers to cover.
