News Noted and Quoted Impressive in G1 Chandelier [Replay and Quotes] October 2, 2016 News Noted and Quoted Impressive in G1 Chandelier [Replay and Quotes] October 2, 2016 By: Jared Welch twitterfacebooklinkedinemail Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article JOCKEY QUOTES RAFAEL BEJARANO, NOTED AND QUOTED, WINNER: “I have to give Bob (Baffert) a lot of credit for this. I have ridden both (of Baffert’s fillies entered in the Chandelier, (the other American Cleopatra) and I started off wanting to ride American Cleopatra because I thought (with her pedigree) she might be the better filly but I don’t think she really wants to go two turns. Baffert told me that he thought I might want to stay on Noted and Quoted because she was going to be prepared to run the mile and a sixteenth. And, he was right. American Cleopatra was right next to me but Stewart (Elliott, on American Cleopatra) didn’t have enough horse and mine was the better horse today.” FLAVIEN PRAT, WITH HONORS, SECOND: “She ran great. I wish I was on the outside but she ran great. First time on with her. She was really brave to come back at the end and I felt that she was kind of tired but she just tried hard and did everything right.” TRAINER QUOTES BOB BAFFERT, NOTED AND QUOTED, WINNER: “When they turned for home, I thought, ‘That’s a good filly (With Honors) that ran second.’ I have a lot of respect for her. (Noted and Quoted) is a very slight filly. I don’t have to do a lot with her, but the fact that she’s already proved she can go two turns, that’s what we were trying to find out with her. I’m pretty proud of her effort, because she ran against a really great filly.” KEITH DESORMEAUX, WITH HONORS, SECOND: “I think it was a complete difference in style here. I concentrated on freshening this horse after her win at Del Mar (Sept. 5 one mile Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes), I didn’t drill her in the mornings. We came up a bit short today, but it puts her in a position to run a big race on Breeders’ Cup day and that’s the goal. “She is going to run on dirt in the Breeders’ Cup unless I completely get overruled by the owners, the jockey, and the conglomerate that runs the show. She’s definitely going to run on dirt. “If you watch the race again, you can see that she wasn’t straining to be up there (on the lead.) For her to set that kind of pace, and to do it under control is a beautiful thing to see and, with a race like that, we don’t have to worry.” NOTES: The winning owner is Peter Fluor of Houston who races as Speedway Stable, LLC.
