Martin Garcia Guides Ami’s Flatter to Impressive G3 Commonwealth Win; Reactions and Replay

Martin Garcia (winning rider of Ami’s Flatter)

“The instructions that I got from (assistant trainer Ruth Schmidt) was just maintain him (in the) clear and make one run. That’s exactly how the race came out. I put my horse where he’s supposed to be and when I asked him, (it) was easy.”

Ruth Schmidt (assistant to winning trainer Josie Carroll)

“He got an amazing trip and a wonderful ride. Everything went right. He was feeling unbelievable – happy as he can be coming into this race. He brought his all.  I know (owner) Ivan (Dalos) is very, very thrilled. Josie, unfortunately, couldn’t be here, but we are extremely happy.”

Javier Castellano (rider of runner-up Ready for Rye)

“The way it looked to me, a couple of horses got the speed in the race. I set him down behind those horses. I liked the way he did it. I think the winner (Ami’s Flatter) was much the best today. (We’re) second-best today.”

Florent Geroux (rider of third-place finisher Holy Boss)

“It worked out great, (my horse) made an easy lead. It was a good race back. He hadn’t run since the Breeders’ Cup last year so we got the rust out of him and hopefully next time he should be very tough.”

Luis Saez (rider of fourth-place finisher Barbados)

“I had a very nice trip. He broke right there and when we came to the three-eighths (pole), he responded when I asked. He never gave up, he never stopped. He kept trying. But the winner made a big move and kept going.”
