Dream It Is Romps in G3 Schuylerville on Saratoga Opening Day

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Making her first start on dirt and away from Woodbine, Hoolie Racing Stable’s Dream It Is smoked a field of eight 2-year-old fillies by a commanding 9 lengths in the Grade 3, $150,000 Schuylerville on Friday at Saratoga Race Course.

The Barbara Minshall-trained filly was a perfect 2-for-2 in her career entering today but had never left the confines of Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario. Ridden by champion Canadian jockey Luis Contreras, Dream It Is was sent off at 9-2 and completed the 6-furlong distance over a fast main track in 1:11.85.

“It’s amazing, what can I say? To win a race and to win it like that,” Minshall said. “We came with a horse that we thought was a good filly and had a shot, but I can’t say I expected her to run as good as she did.”

The Steve Asmussen-trained Buy Sell Hold took the lead early through a fast opening 1/4-mile in :21.99. After a 1/2 in :46.22, Contreras went after the leader on Dream It Is.

Turning for home, the race was over. With every stride, Dream It Is separated from the field to remain undefeated. Best Performance rallied for second over Stainless in third.

“This is why we brought Luis here. He’s very confident and he’s a very good rider. We wouldn’t have done it any other way,” Minshall said. “He gave her a great ride. We knew her ability coming in but she really showed another gear today.”

Dream It Is returned $11.00, $5.60, and $3.90. Best Performance brought back $4.60 and $3.60, while Stainless paid $4.30 to show.
