Breeders’ Cup Predictions #7

Changes this week: The Distaff, Sprint, and Juvenile Fillies Turf

The Classic – Shared Belief – He’s been my pick through all seven sets of predictions, so there’s no backing down now.  He put in his final work at Golden Gate this week, and will ship to Santa Anita soon.

The Mile – Veda – Excited to see her take on the boys, but still wavering as to whether she’ll be my final pick.  Great bunch of Europeans lining up to take advantage of Wise Dan not being here.

The Distaff – Close Hatches – I’m at a loss at the moment with this race.  The defection of the champion Beholder has all handicappers scrambling.  However, you’d have to think Close Hatches is going to bounce back in this one.

The Turf – Flintshire – Was happy to see Flintshire’s name on the pre-entry list!  If he likes the firm ground like I think he will, then I think it’s a great spot for him.

The Sprint – Indianapolis – Hey why not take a shot in this crazy race?  He worked amazingly when in company with Secret Circle last week…and he’s undefeated over this track.

The Juvenile – American Pharoah – The competition has stiffened significantly now with Pletcher speedsters popping up like crazy. Still believe he’s the best of the bunch, and he also will have home advantage.

The Turf Sprint – Reneesgotzip – You have to pick a horse with experience on the down hill turf course in this race, so that’s why I’ve picked Reneesgotzip for now. Finished 3rd in 2012 and 2nd in 2013…no Mizdirection to contend with this year so third time could be a charm.

In addition to the 100% cash match on first deposits up to $300 as a welcome offer, BetAmerica will be running their popular “$econd Chance” promotion for ALL Breeders’ Cup Races. Any losing win bets on the runners-up will be refunded (Max refund is $25). Terms and conditions for the offer below:

– Max refund is $25
– Promotion DOES NOT apply to the Win portion of Win-Place-Show, Win-Place, and Win-Show wagers. You must place a WIN bet on BetAmerica.com

The Filly and Mare Sprint – Midnight Lucky – If she fires fresh she’s clearly the best of the group, but will she be at her best? A lot of question marks with her. Hopefully the layoff makes her price decent.

The Filly and Mare Turf – Dank – The champ is back, and will need to fire a big one to repeat, but I think she’s capable.

The Juvenile Fillies – Angela Renee – This looks like a very formful race on paper.  Angela Renee seems to be a standout, but if Cavorting can bounce back we know she can beat her.

The Juvenile Fillies Turf – Qualify – On the fence with a few of these at this point.  Landed on her for now, but expecting this to change.

The Dirt Mile – Goldencents – His loss in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship doesn’t bother me one bit. He’ll stretch out to a mile in the Breeders Cup, and he will dominate.

The Juvenile Turf – Aktabantay – Thrilled that he’s coming over!! Really love him in this spot.
